ELECTIONS & VOTING

The Southern Association of Health Professions Deans at Academic Health Centers (SAHPD/AHC) values the active participation of its members in the decision-making processes of the Association. Our elections and voting procedures are designed to ensure transparency, fairness, and inclusivity.

The Chair of SAHPD/AHC appoints a nominating committee as needed from the membership in good standing to oversee elections. All elections required by our by-laws are typically held at the first meeting of the Association after the beginning of the calendar year or by electronic ballot. In the event a meeting is not held, actions of the membership requiring voting may be conducted by electronic vote according to a specified procedure.

Each full member of SAHPD/AHC in good standing is entitled to cast one vote for elections, motions, and/or resolutions. A simple majority of all Association members who participated in the electronic vote, upon achieving a quorum, is required for the passage of a motion. SAHPD/AHC values the input and engagement of its members in shaping the direction and activities of the Association, and encourages active participation in the elections and voting processes.
