Biographical Note

The Southern Association of Allied Health Deans at Academic Health Centers is an organization composed of chief administrators in allied health units at institutions of higher education across the South. It is a subgroup of members of the Association of American Medical Colleges, a non-profit dedicated to transforming health through research and education. The Association was founded in 1979 for the purpose of sharing resources, ideas, and data related to allied health education. They convene twice a year to discuss issues in health education.

Scope and Contents

The Southern Deans Collection is comprised of four series of items that pertain to the administration of the Southern Association of Allied Health Deans at Academic Health Centers. The collection includes meeting minutes, membership and policy documents, group by-laws, conference papers, and other assorted items. Items in the collection have been accrued over the duration of the group and have been maintained by the group’s Secretary.

The collection is arranged into four series: By-laws, Meetings & Minutes, Membership & Policies, and Misc. Each Series is arranged chronologically.

Acquisition Information

The contents of the Southern Deans Collection were transferred to the archives over the life of the Southern Deans Association. The collection continues to be added to as documents are created. 

Accruals

The collection will continue to grow as the Association continues to operate. The finding aid will be updated over time to reflect these additions.
